A wonderful atmosphere (very American). The staff were all friendly and helpful. I tried four different cocktails and they were all brilliant. They have something there for everyone.

We had our work Christmas bash as a Cocktail masterclasses at Coal & Cedar and my colleagues have been talking about it ever since. Classic cocktails, with (believe it or not) informative lessons on each cocktail made including the liqueur and other ingredients. Afterward we enjoyed an antipasto platter while we finished the cocktails we'd made and by the end were in high and festive spirits. The staff were friendly, laid-back and knew their stuff, and while only a small speakeasy, as the night went on, more and more people came in to sit in a booth with their friends and casually enjoy cocktails and conversation. It was a small, dark area which adds to the mystery of having to text through a number at the door, which is inconspicuously located on the side of a building on a busy street in Newcastle. It was like stepping in from a completely different place. Loved it and cant wait to revisit.
This may be Newcastles best bar. It has atmosphere and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable. The range of alcohol is amazing. Its not cheap but thats a good thing. The cocktails and mixed drinks are high quality and something to savour not swill down.
First experience at a high end cocktail bar. That it was! Classy soficateded vibe.Barman were extremely professional and provided a quality service. Grazing plates were delicious quality and presentation of food was superb.I had no idea this place existed. I definitely recommend The Coal & Cedar.I shall be back.
